GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay women's tennis team defeated UW-Eau
Claire 6-1 Saturday afternoon in dual meet action at Bay Port High School. The
Phoenix took five of the six singles matches against the Blugolds and also won
the doubles point.
Senior
Emily Lawent (Milwaukee, Wis.) was a
two-time winner for the Phoenix as she defeated Eau Claire's Megan Born 6-0,
6-2 at the No. 1 singles spot and also teamed up with junior Morgan Weuve (Green Bay, Wis.) to take
down Born and Emily Hiebl in No. 1 doubles (8-2). Weuve also earned a win at
the No. 2 singles spot, defeating Taylor Heltne 6-1, 6-2.
The
Phoenix returns to action on Friday, Oct. 1 when it travels to Fort Wayne,
Ind., for the two-day IPFW Invitational. It will be the final fall event for
the Green Bay women.
