STOWE, Vt. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay's Carolyn Freeman (Ely, Minn.) opened competition at the 2011 NCAA Skiing
Championships on Wednesday with a 15th-place showing in the 5K freestyle race
at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vt. The senior turned in the Central Region's
top female performance, crossing the finish line in 15:06.8.
"I'm
very excited about the outcome of Carolyn's race today," Green Bay assistant
coach Steve Teclaw said. "Her goal
was to grasp an All-American title (top 10), but she had a solid race
regardless. She was up against the best in the country, and it is obvious
Carolyn feeds off their talent. It definitely increases her drive to ski fast."
Freeman
is back in action on Friday at 8:30 a.m. CT for the final race of her Green Bay
career - the 15K classic. Fans can watch the race live on the NCAA
website.
