GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay women's tennis team began a
four-match Horizon League home stand over the weekend at the Green Bay Tennis
Center, falling 7-0 to Cleveland State on Saturday before dropping a tough 4-3
decision to Youngstown State on Sunday.
On
Sunday, the Phoenix split the six singles matches with the Penguins but lost
the doubles point to give Youngstown State the narrow win. Green Bay junior Morgan Weuve (Green Bay, Wis.) picked
up a win in the No. 3 spot, defeating YSU's Gimena Puppo 6-1, 7-6(3). Also
earning singles victories Sunday were Rebecca Nelson (Brookfield, Wis.) and Julia Kedrzycki (Woodbridge, Ontario). Nelson defeated Hannah Patten 6-0, 3-6,
7-5 at No. 5, while Kedrzycki routed Annie Jesko 6-1, 6-0.
The
Green Bay women continue the home stand this Friday, hosting Butler at 7 p.m.
The Phoenix then welcomes Wright State to the Green Bay Tennis Center on Sunday
at 10 a.m.
