CLEVELAND,
Ohio (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green
Bay women's tennis team opened its four-match Horizon League road trip on
Friday with a 6-1 loss to Cleveland State at the Malaga Tennis Center. The
Phoenix dropped to 2-10 (1-3 Horizon League) with the loss, while the Vikings
improved to 11-7 (3-0 Horizon League) and extended its win streak to four
straight.
Cleveland State opened the match by sweeping the
doubles point before earning wins in five of the six singles contests to remain
unbeaten in conference play.
Junior Maria Anderson (Marshfield, Wis.) earned the lone victory for the Phoenix on
Friday, coming from behind to beat Cleveland State's Alexandra Bush at the No.
4 singles spot. After dropping the opening set to Bush by a score of 6-1,
Anderson rallied to pick up 7-5 and 10-5 wins in sets two and three to complete
the comeback.
Green Bay is back in action on Saturday with a 5 p.m.
contest at Youngstown State.
