GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - After sweeping the diving events in Saturday's
Senior Day dual meet against Milwaukee, Green Bay senior Mitchell Spaeth (Fredonia, Wis.) was
selected as the Horizon League Men's Diver of the Week for Jan. 28-Feb. 3, the
conference office announced Tuesday. It marks the first weekly award in Spaeth's
career.
Spaeth won both boards in convincing
fashion in his final home meet, taking the 3-meter event with a career-best
score of 342.07 and winning the 1-meter event with a season-best total of
313.13.
"Mitchell's steady
performances this season are a culmination of his personal commitment to
becoming a better athlete in each of his four seasons at Green Bay," diving
coach Tom Stover said. "He maximizes
his time and energy to focus on doing things the right way in each and every
practice. He has learned to analyze each dive and put that insight to work,
making himself better each time he gets on the boards."
Spaeth and the Phoenix
have three weeks off from competition and will return to action at the 2013
Horizon League Championships in Chicago Feb. 27-March 2.
