Green Bay Falls in Horizon League Home Contests

By: Ryan Hartwig (@GBHartwig)

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women's tennis team continued its six-match home stretch with a pair of 6-1 losses to Horizon League foes at Western Racquet and Fitness Club over the weekend. The Phoenix first fell to visiting Detroit on Saturday before suffering a loss to Oakland on Sunday.

Sophomore Stephanie Londre (Burlington, Wis.) picked up a convincing victory on Sunday against Oakland, taking down the Golden Grizzlies' Cam Sabourin 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.

“Stephanie played smart and executed when she needed to,” Phoenix head coach Sommer May said. “I am very pleased with the way Stephanie has been playing.”

Londre also turned in a solid performance on Saturday against Detroit, teaming up with freshman Lauren Miketinac (Green Bay, Wis.) in a well-played No. 2 doubles match. The Phoenix tandem battled, but ultimately fell 8-6 to Raina Halabi and Elena Strakhova.

Green Bay wraps up its homestand next weekend with three non-conference matches in three days. The Phoenix welcomes South Dakota on Friday, IPFW on Saturday and Bradley on Sunday.
