GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women's tennis team (0-1) got its 2015 spring season underway on Friday evening, falling 7-0 to visiting Cardinal Stritch (2-0) at Western Racquet and Fitness Club.
The Wolves took all three doubles contests before sweeping the six singles matches in the opening contest of the season for the Phoenix.
“The team gave a great effort, but unfortunately nerves got the best of many of them today,” said head coach Sommer May. “Overall, we need to work on taking control of the match right from the start.”
Junior Stephanie Londre (Burlington, Wis.) battled against the Wolves' Alexis Loomis at No. 1 singles, but Loomis prevailed 6-2, 6-2. Olivia Headford and Volvy Boilevin squared off in the No. 2 singles contest, with Boilevin taking home a 6-4, 6-2 result.
The Phoenix women will have a short rest from competition, as they travel to Milwaukee, Wis., to take on the Marquette Golden Eagles tomorrow at 5 p.m.
