GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women's tennis team (0-2) continued its 2015 season Saturday evening, falling 7-0 to host Marquette (4-0) at Helfaer Stadium.
The Golden Eagles took all three doubles contests before sweeping the six singles matches in the second contest of the season for the Phoenix.
“We faced a very tough team today,” said head coach Sommer May. “These are the types of matches that we can learn from and build upon. We have many talented players this year, and I'm looking forward to seeing them play at their full potential.”
Junior Stephanie Londre (Burlington, Wis.) participated in a hard-fought match against Marquette's Pimienta at No. 1 singles, but Pimienta claimed victory 6-0, 6-3. Olivia Headford (Ontario, Canada) and Gebes battled in the No. 2 singles contest, with Gebes taking home the 6-1, 6-2 match win.
