ROCHESTER, Mich. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay women's tennis team took the court for its third Horizon League match of the season, taking on Oakland in Rochester, Mich. The Phoenix fought hard but was only able to collect a single point, falling 6-1 to the Golden Grizzlies on Saturday afternoon.
"We played well for the first time outdoors this season," head coach Tim Dean said. "Liv played solid. Theresa lost a heartbreaking first set, and Chiara also lost a tough match. Congrats to Oakland for earning their win today. Our young women gave it their best. Despite the score Samm played some of her best tennis yet. Again, we learned a lot about this team today, and we will get better. Overall I'm proud of the team for how they responded playing outdoors."
Olivia Headford was the lone winner for Green Bay on the afternoon, battling back to win on the No. 1 court [4-6, 6-1, 10-3].
The Golden Grizzlies (5-7, 1-0), swept the doubles competition and earned wins at No. 2-6 singles.
