GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women's tennis team hit the road to continue league play this weekend for two matches in as many days, opening things with a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Valparaiso on Friday followed by a 7-0 loss to UIC on Saturday.
Valparaiso 4, Green Bay 3
The match with Valparaiso was the closest Green Bay came thus far to earning its first league victory of the season, as the match came down to the No. 1 court where Green Bay's Olivia Headford battled through an injury against Valparaiso's Meg Modesto with the match tied 3-3.
Despite a valiant effort, Headford was unable to secure the point (7-6, 6-1) as the Crusaders went on to earn it first league win of the season, 4-3.
UIC 7, Green Bay 0
The Flames entered the Saturday afternoon matchup with the Phoenix winners of four straight and showed no intentions of letting that streak end. UIC dominated its way to a 7-0 shutout victory over Green Bay after wins on the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles courts to own a 1-0 advantage heading into singles.
The Flames went on to secure its fifth-straight victory after picking up wins on the No. 1-6 singles courts, clinching a 7-0 victory and handing the Phoenix its second loss of the weekend.

The Phoenix women will return to the court on Saturday, April 22 when the squad welcomes Youngstown State to Western Racquet with first serve slated for 4 p.m.
