DAYTON, Ohio (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women's tennis team fell 6-1 on Sunday to one of the top teams in the Horizon League, Wright State (16-9, 5-0 HL).
Sophomore
Theresa Tebon gained a point for the team at number one singles, commanding the set before the default. In the doubles match, the team of seniors
Samm Pedersen and
Maria Neff fought hard as well, making the Raiders push the game to 7-5.
"Wright state will be a team to contend with near the top of the league," said head coach
Tim Dean. "The doubles was close, but again, we just couldn't break through on deuce points. We have a lot of opportunities. We set up points very well, but we need to feel less pressure when trying to finish points. Tebon played the best tennis I've ever seen from her until her opponent retired. The score was closer than it looks on paper and we again took steps in the right direction today."
Green Bay (1-11, 0-6 HL) will play UIC and IUPUI next weekend for their final home matches of the season. The UIC game will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13. Green Bay will celebrate Senior Day at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 against IUPUI.
