MADISON, Wis. - The Green Bay swim and dive team wrapped up the Badger Invitational on Saturday afternoon, completing the two-day event with six different Phoenix recording personal records.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Green Bay had a trio of Phoenix crack the top five in the 100-yard butterfly.
Bailey Venden placed second with a time of 1:02.56, with teammate Grace Focault coming right behind at 1:02.58, a lifetime best. She also had a lifetime best in the 200 backstroke.
Kelsey Kobus rounded out the top five with a time of 1:03.14, also a lifetime best. She recorded two more lifetime bests in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Venden, Kobus, and
Megan Mellock all swam their last meet for the Phoenix. In the 100-yard backstroke,
Grace Daanen slotted third place with a time of 1:00.95. Focault was again a split second behind for fourth place. Mellock placed fifth with a time of 1:06.77.Â
MEN'S RECAP
The Phoenix saw plenty more lifetime bests recorded during the men's events.
Owen Mehring had a career time in the 50 and 100-yard freestyles, as well as the 100-yard breaststroke.
Cowan Vitense had personal bests in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle.
Adlai Ferguson tallied personal bests in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, as well as the 50-yard freestyle.
Nolan Schultz had lifetime bests in the 50, 100, and 200-yard freestyles.
ON THE HORIZON
Green Bay will turn its attention to the Horizon League Championships, which begin on Wednesday, February 19 at the IU Natatorium in downtown Indianapolis. Main events in the evening will be streamed live on ESPN+.
